How to decorate your home in time for Christmas
It’s never too early to be ready for Christmas! Especially after Christmas last year, now we’ve got a bit more normality back, why not start planning how you’ll decorate your home this year. Whilst your first port of call might be to start decorating your living space, don’t forget that the exterior of your home deserves just as much attention. From sprucing up your front door to creating your very own grotto in your home, we have a bunch of Christmas home décor ideas to make your home the place to be.
Decorate your front door
Your front door is the first thing guests see when they visit you. Homemade Christmas wreaths are the perfect way to give your guests a warm welcome for the festive season without spending too much money. Go for a classic design, with lush greenery and foliage, or get creative and use old baubles or colourful candy canes. If you have planters either side of your front door, you can drape tinsel and decorations around them to have mini ‘Christmas trees’ at your entrance too.
Lights on your roofline
Light up your roofline with Christmas lights so your home can take centre stage. Frame your house with beautiful twinkling lights to create an enchanting aesthetic. From the subtle to the extreme, you can light up your home with classic white string lights or red lanterns for a touch of rustic Christmas charm. Go all out this year and create a display for passers-by to enjoy – you could be the house everyone goes to on their Christmas light drive by!
Winter wonderland conservatory
Now to the inside of your home. If you have a conservatory, it’s the perfect place to put your Christmas tree, with the snowy garden making a magical backdrop. The space that a conservatory offers means there’s plenty of room to get creative! If you have small children, a conservatory is a super setting to dress up as Santa and give them the biggest surprise of the year. Scatter festive candles around the room and bring the smell of Christmas into your home with the tell-tale scents of gingerbread, cinnamon or pine trees. You’ll have your very own winter wonderland to escape to and relax in throughout the festive period.
Decorate your windowsills
Liven up your windows this year by adding festive accents to your windowsills. There are countless Christmas home décor ideas when it comes to windows. Placing ornaments, candles, crafts or garlands along your windowsills sprinkles the Christmas cheer into every room in your home! Creating a focal point spices up any room and is a great way to add warmth and a winter glow, whilst adding a personal, unique touch. Why not make simple winter forest and snow inspired crafts using fabrics, wood or paper to add interest to your windows this Christmas.
