Create your own winter wonderhome in your Christmas conservatory
Now that it’s December, it’s the perfect time to start talking about Christmas.
Preparing the home for Christmas can be one of the most exciting yet daunting tasks. We’ve put together a blog to help make things easier for you, so you can transform your home into a winter wonderland with minimal hassle.
One of the most fun things to Christmas-up is the conservatory. With a Christmas conservatory, the options are endless.
You can transform your conservatory into a Santa’s grotto or Derby’s answer to Lapland, perfect if you’ve got young children
Your conservatory can be the perfect place to home your Christmas tree, with the snowy garden outside making the perfect background for it. The increased amount of space a conservatory offers means that you’ll have plenty of room to put the presents too.
If you’ve got small children, a conservatory is a wonderful setting as you dress up as Santa and give them the best surprise of their year. Just imagine the look on their faces when they run down into the conservatory and see Father Christmas ready to make their wishes come true.
You can even lay felt snow on the floor to give it that extra North Pole feel!
Much loved Christmas scents can effortlessly waft through your airy conservatory
One of the best yet subtle indicators of Christmas is the beautiful scents of gingerbread, cinnamon, roasted chestnut or pine trees. With the airy nature of a conservatory, you can place your Christmas candles and diffusers inside and they will effortlessly waft around the room creating the most gorgeous festive aroma.
Try placing a diffuser on a table in the corner, or on the window sills if you have some, or lighting a candle and using it as a centre-piece for the room.
Add fairy lights to your conservatory for a magical starry night inside your home
Fairy lights are another staple for the festive time of year, and can look simply stunning inside your Christmas conservatory.
Try hanging them across the ceiling of the conservatory. This will create your very own starry night and adds to the light and bright appeal of a glass roof conservatory.
The extra space in your conservatory is a fantastic place to put your favourite Christmas decorations
Do you often find that each year you buy more and more Christmas decorations and each year you’re running out of space to put them?
Your Christmas conservatory is the best place for them!
You can put all your garlands and wreaths, ornaments such as nutcrackers, robins & reindeers, candles and light features in your spacious conservatory.
Alpine homeware is really popular throughout the whole winter season and will add a cosy spin to your conservatory
Adding alpine homeware to your home is another way to subtly transform your home into a winter wonderland.
If your conservatory is a space to relax in, with sofas and armchairs to snuggle up in, try dressing them with alpine throws and cushions.
This adds an extra level of warmth and cosiness, as well as an understated wintery tone. You can even leave them in your conservatory throughout the whole of winter, not just Christmas!
There’s no need to worry about your old conservatory being too cold in the winter
One of the things families worry about over winter is keeping the home warm.
Modern conservatory options mean you can have glass or a solid roof.
If you already have a conservatory that’s too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer, this can be combatted with a replacement solid roof.
The adding insulation of a solid roof means you can use your conservatory even on the frostiest wintery days for whatever you’d like to use your Christmas conservatory for.
We know how important the home is at Christmas, which is why we put on a Winter Wonderhome event at our showroom!
We hosted a Winter Wonderhome extravaganza at our showroom on 11 November, where the people of Derby were invited to see how they transform their home over the Christmas season as well as find out more about our new products and offers. We also had a Santa’s grotto, delicious home cooked food, happy hour at our cocktails & mocktail bar, competitions to win £1,000 off a composite door and £100 in Smyths vouchers.
