Transform your home at the Trade Windows Winter Warmer Weekend

winter warmer open weekend

It’s that time of year again. Christmas is just around the corner and soon we’ll all be decking the halls with holly in preparation.

Christmas window dressing time is one of the only days of the year you get up close enough to notice that those draughts you’ve been feeling are coming through your windows.

Perhaps you are planning your family celebrations and instead of worrying about fitting the turkey into the oven, you’re concerned about how you’re going to fit everybody around the dining table.

Or maybe you’ve just finished sanding and painting your old timber fascia boards and soffits in time for the winter and you don’t fancy another couple of days up a ladder doing it again next year.

These are all familiar situations for lots of us as we head into winter. No wonder new windows, doors, roofline or an orangery rise to the top of the to-do list.

Be Inspired

We’re holding our annual Winter Warmer Weekend on 21-22 November 2015 and we have plenty of products on show for you to browse.

We’ll even be unveiling a new addition to Trade Street over the weekend for you to take extra inspiration from.

If you’re looking to brighten up your front door, we have plenty of composite door designs on show so that you can see all of the different features on offer. If you’re tired of your old patio doors and you’re looking for a way to open up your home into the garden, come and see our range of bi-folding doors.

For those that love the look of real wood but don’t enjoy the annual maintenance chores, our Modus system is a perfect solution. The clever timber alternative offers stunning flushsash windows in a range of colours, so you can have the beauty of timber with all the performance benefits of PVCu.

We also have a great range of shiplap and cladding products which you can talk to our team about over the weekend.

Special Offers

Our Open Weekend is a great opportunity for us to offer our customers some great deals. We’re giving customers who order between 16 and 22 November: 10 percent off window, door and conservatory orders (excluding building work and ancillaries) and 10 percent off our roofline products.

We’re even running a couple of prize draws for our visitors. You could win a composite door worth up to £1000 or 50 percent off any order you make over the weekend.

We’re open 10am – 4pm on Saturday and 10am – 2pm on Sunday. Come and have a wander down Trade Street and be inspired.

Winter Security

Order in time for Christmas 2015 from Trade WindowsIt’s great news that domestic burglary is on the decline in England and Wales. According to the Office of National Statistics, properties are now 3 times less likely to be a victim of domestic burglary than twenty years ago. But the latest figures show that there were still 6.5 million incidents against households and residents last year.

We know that in winter months crime figures increase. Last year, there were 104,400 cases of domestic burglary between October 2014 and March 2015 – an increase of 12.7% compared to the number of incidents between April and September 2014.

Now it’s that time of year again. It’s getting darker earlier in the evening and lighter later in the morning. Thieves target homes at night when it’s easier to stay hidden and in the winter, that time is increased.

Ensuring you have basic security measures at home can help. Statistics have shown that 6 percent of homes with no, or less than basic security were victims of burglary but only 1 percent of households with either basic or enhanced security were.

These statistics are based on ‘basic’ being defined as having locks on windows and double locks or deadlocks on external doors.

At Trade Windows our product range has excellent levels of security with cleverly-designed locks and hardware to make sure your home is really secure.

Our windows and composite doors even have the fantastic ERA Five Star Guarantee which offers top security and a package of benefits worth up to £5,000 in the unlikely event of product failure. And with your ERA Guarantee, you can even save money on your home insurance.

The high security range of casement and tilt & turn windows is accredited under Secured by Design, the police flagship initiative for designing out crime.

There are lots of other practical things you can do to make your home less of a target in the darker months:

  1. Make your home look occupied – use timer switches for lights if you’re out in the evening or away on holiday.
  2. Close curtains and blinds in the evenings so your valuables aren’t on show.
  3. Install a security light so that you can see out into the garden.
  4. A burglar alarm installed on the front of your house is a good visual deterrent.
  5. Make sure you set alarms and lock front doors if you’re out in the back garden enjoying fireworks or bonfires.
  6. Be vigilant. Lock your windows and doors before you leave the house and before going to bed.
  7. Secure out buildings like sheds and garages – they can be easy targets in the dark.

Tiled roof conservatories

Equinox roofing systemAt Trade Windows, we like to offer as many different design options and styles as possible, so that our customers have the best choice of home improvement products.

As well as windows, doors, garage conversions and extensions, we offer a variety of conservatory styles, with something to suit every home.

One of our conservatory options is tiled roof. This contemporary system can turn unused space into a lovely extension with fantastic comfort levels 365 days a year.

Design Features

Our tiled roof system provides a truly efficient space with U-values as low as 0.15. The excellent thermal efficiency means you’ll never have the problem of your conservatory being hot and stuffy in the summer or cold and draughty in the winter. It could even save you money on your energy bills.

The beauty of a tiled roof is that you can create extra space that is sympathetic to your property. You can choose from standard or premium roof slates to match the roof on your house, and there are different colour choices of guttering, fascias and soffits to match in with what’s already installed at home.

Inside, you can choose to have plasterboard for a sleek modern feel or there’s the option of a tongue and groove timber ceiling. If you’re concerned that a tiled roof might not let enough light in, don’t be! The walls of glass in your conservatory will make sure your space drinks in natural daylight. But, if you have a particularly light-deprived garden, you could choose to have premium roof windows installed.

The tiled roof system we use has been perfectly engineered for complete peace of mind. It can be used on any style of conservatory – lean-to, gable-end, Victorian, Edwardian or P-shaped.

Brand new or refurb

Tiled roof conservatories can look more like extensions and offer a really snug and cosy new living area to a property.

If you already have a conservatory that you don’t use because it is inefficient, we could replace an existing polycarbonate roof with a tiled one so that you can make the most of your space all year round.

If you’d like to see more of the conservatory options we offer, or ask us about refurbishing your old conservatory, come and have a stroll down Trade Street and talk to a member of our team.

Trade Windows’ full project management service

Conservatory from Trade WindowsSprucing up your front entrance with a new composite door? Or adding more space for the family to enjoy with an extension? Whatever improvements you’re planning for your home, you want to be thinking about colour schemes and décor inspiration, not tradesmen and building regulations.

With over 23 years’ experience managing home improvements for customers, Trade Windows offers a full project management service. It means you can focus on the finishing touches to your window dressing or planning the first family gathering in your new kitchen extension and leave everything else to us.

The initial idea

The first step is to take a stroll down Trade Street for some inspiration. We have a row of full size brick houses inside our showroom on London Road, Derby. Each is fitted with windows, doors and conservatories so you can start imagining how your home could look straight away. Our experts are on hand to talk about the best ways to make your vision work for how you live.

With ideas in hand, a member of our team will offer you a quotation. This can be based on your own measurements, or we can visit you at home to measure up.

Everything taken care of

Once you’re happy with everything, our experienced surveyor will carry out a detailed survey of your property. They’ll ensure your new installation meets all the legal requirements and latest building regulations so you don’t have to worry about a thing. We consider everything from how you access doors and open windows to working around pipework and underground drains.

When we’ve taken care of all the technical aspects of your project, we produce a series of full colour sketches and CAD drawings. You can see how the finished installation will look, get a feel for the space and tweak anything that isn’t exactly how you’d like it. If required, Trade Windows can also look after the planning permission.

A name you can trust

Before any building work starts, you’ll receive a full schedule of works without you having a lift a finger. We can work alongside any suppliers or contractors you have hired yourself or we can organise everything for you. As a Trusted Trader ourselves, we work closely with other local builders, plumbers, electricians, plasterers, flooring fitters and joiners in the Trusted Trader Scheme.

With your installation completed, we make sure you receive all of the necessary Building Control Certificates. From then on it’s time for you to relax and enjoy the latest addition to your home. And should you ever need us, our customer service team is available to answer any queries you may have in the future.
