Trade Street at Trade Windows

Are you looking for replacement windows and doors, thinking about having a conservatory or garage conversion or considering replacing your roofline? Are you struggling to decide on which firm to use?

We understand it can be difficult to know which home improvement company to choose, so we’ve written just a few reasons why Trade Windows might be right for you.

  1. 1. Loads of experience – 22 years of experience, in fact. Since 1993, we’ve fitted more replacement windows, doors and conservatories in and around Derby than anyone else. With experience comes knowledge, so no matter what the challenge is, we’ll know how to solve it.
  2. 2. ERA Security lock guarantee – All our windows and doors come with an ERA Five Star Guarantee which not only keeps your home extra secure, it could also save you money on your home insurance. Brokers know that products with better security levels mean that there’s a lower risk of break-ins, so they might reduce your premiums.
  3. 3. Trade Street – We’ve got a great showroom. On Trade Street we have a row of full sized brick houses fitted with windows, doors and conservatories so you can instantly get an idea of how they might look in your home. You can sit down in one of our 8 glass extensions or try out any of our 32 doors on display to get a feel for the kind of products we have.
  4. 4. Project management service – We take care of everything for you with our full project management service, whether you’re having a new composite door or converting your garage. We’ll organise everything with our installation teams and make sure that all building work adheres to regulations. We’ll arrange all of the other trades too and organise a schedule of work so you know what’s happening and when.
  5. 5. Rough measurements quote – You don’t need to have a home survey to get a quote from us, if you’re only in the planning process of improving your home. Just bring some rough measurements along to the showroom and we can give you a quote on the spot.
  6. 6. Good quality products – We will only use top quality products on your installations. We’ll come and do a full technical survey before we begin, so we can make sure that the fitting process will run smoothly.
  7. 7. Trusted Trader – We’re on the Derbyshire County Council’s Trusted Trader scheme. It was introduced to help homeowners find reliable and trustworthy traders in Derbyshire who do professional jobs at fair prices and provide good customer service.
  8. 8. Buy with Confidence – We’re part of the Buy with Confidence scheme too. It means that we’ve agreed to abide by their code of conduct. We’ve been inspected by Trading Standards, passed background checks and had good customer references in order to be a part of this scheme.
  9. 9. Age UK registered – Often older people feel more vulnerable inviting tradespeople into their homes, that’s why we’re in the Age UK Business Directory for the Derbyshire area. It means that Age UK has recognised us as a reliable and trustworthy trader to give greater peace of mind to our customers.
  10. 10. Our customers say it best – It’s not just us: customers tell us we’re good to deal with. Here’s one from the Trusted Traders website.
From our initial visit to Trade Windows we knew this was the company to choose. There was no pushy selling, just a simple and straight forward quote which we could consider without a barrage of phone calls demanding a decision! The staff in the showroom are all excellent and the guys who came out to carry out the work were great! I cannot recommend Trade Windows highly enough.”

Georgian Elegance with Vertical Sliders

Sliding sash windows from Trade WindowsIf you live in a Georgian style property or if you’d like to add some traditional style to your home, our vertical sliding windows are perfect for you.

With older properties, we know that modern window styles can look out of place, but PVCu sliding sash windows can faithfully replace the classic timber sash. Our vertical sliders combine a traditional design with the most up to date energy efficiency and security features.

Replacing timber vertical sliders reduces maintenance too. There’s no more repairing, sanding and re-painting to be done. Just easy to clean PVCu frames which are available in every colour so that they match your home perfectly. You can even have a different colour on the inside, to suit your décor.

The windows feature a slide and tilt mechanism so you can turn them inside out. This means cleaning the outside panes just got easy because you can do it from inside.

This really versatile style is great for keeping rooms well ventilated. Both the top and bottom sashes can be opened separately or together and there’s an overhead vent for when your windows are closed.

If you live in a conservation area, our sliding sash windows may help you to meet building requirements without compromising on the energy efficiency and security benefits you want from replacement windows. Our team can give you advice on your options for conservation areas and Article 4 Directions.

Our sliding sash windows have excellent thermal efficiency too, with a Window Energy Rating (WER) of ‘B’ as standard and the option to upgrade to ‘A’. The design features an anti-jemmy bar to stop the window from being forced open and there is a range of traditional style locks and fasteners in a selection of colours to give a really authentic look. So, you can enjoy great looking windows that are safe and secure and draughts will be a thing of the past.

What’s the difference between a conservatory and an orangery?

Orangery from Trade WindowsOrangeries and conservatories are similar in that they can both introduce an extra light-filled space to your home, but they have some key differences.

Conservatories

Conservatories were designed to create extra space in the home which would allow for the garden to be enjoyed all year round. They have a minimum of two thirds glass walls and a fully glazed roof which lets in lots of natural light and provides undisrupted views outside. Most don’t need planning permission and offer a quick and easy way to introduce a light and airy space into your home.

Orangeries

Orangeries have a long history and first came about way back in the 18th century when they were used like green houses, for growing citrus fruits. They started as separate structures in the garden but as time went on, they were used as more of an extension of the home. Modern orangeries have all of the benefits and privacy of a brick extension but are designed to let in lots of light through roof lanterns.

What’s best for you?
Today, both are used to create extra space in the home and depending on what you and your family need from your glass extension will influence your choice.

We’re often asked about the differences between orangeries and conservatories. If you pop into our showroom on London Road in Derby, our full sized conservatories and orangeries on Trade Street can help you to choose what will suit your needs best.
